Rowan Powers to the Top of the Conference with 27-17 Road Win Over West Chester

Rowan secured a key road win over conference rival West Chester on Saturday.  The win sees Rowan move to the top of the MARC East Division with a 2-0 conference record.  Entering the game, the Profs knew they would face stiff opposition from West Chester (ranked #29 in the nation prior to the game) and were not disappointed.
The first half saw Rowan run out to an early 10-0 lead through tries by Justin Sangster and Joe Glackin before conceding a converted try on an intercepted pass minutes before halftime.  The Profs were undaunted by the setback and came storming out in the second half to extend the lead to 22-7.  West Chester fought back with a try to set up a tense finish.  With the game in the balance, the Profs surged ahead once more to take a 27-12 lead and held on to win 27-17.
Justin Sangster scored two tries in a standout performance.  Joe Glackin, John Dormann and John Bohlin also contributed tries of their own.
Freshman sensation, John Dormann, was named Man of the Match for his outstanding work in both attack and defense.  The Road Warrior was awarded to Sean Pomeroy for his tireless work in defense, as well as his blistering counterattacks.  Sam Portner, in only his second start, was everywhere on the field and was justly voted the hardest worker.  Joe Durdan, earning his first start, was outstanding in a forward pack that completely dominated their opposition in the scrums.
Rowan faces Villanova at home this coming Saturday.  Please come out and support the Profs!
