Rowan rugby returned to their winning ways on Saturday with an impressive 47-12 win over conference rival, the University of Pittsburgh.
The Prof attack finally came alive in a dynamic first half performance which saw them run out to a 40-0 halftime lead. Rowan showed speed, energy and skill in racking up six first half tries. The renewed sense of purpose was evident from the kickoff and carried on throughout the game. Tries were scored by John Dormann (2), man-of-match Jonathan Mitchell (2), Mabilog, McDowell and Nucci. Flyhalf, Hunter Musson, contributed six conversions.
Strong performances were also put in by forwards Morgan Watt, Dan Van Clef and Steven Guevara. Several players made their A-side debut and performed very well, including freshman prop, Yiannis Balis, sophomore center, Shea McDowell, sophomore scrumhalf, Jack Dabulas, and senior flanker, Austin Johnson. With strong performances from so many young players, the future looks bright.
Rowan’s conference schedule concludes this Saturday, October 20th, against Temple University. The Developmental Team kicks off at 12:30, followed by the A-side at 3 p.m. and B-side at 5 p.m. Please come out and support your Profs!
