Tim Smith – Sevens Head Coach

tim-smithCoach Smith has been at the helm of the Rowan 7s team since its inception in 2014. Under his direction, the team achieved immediate success. Last year, the 7s squad qualified for the national playoffs and were invited to the CRCs in Philadelphia. Under Coach Smith’s tutelage, Mike Ehrlich became the first Prof to be named an All-American. Coach Smith will also be joining the 15s coaching staff for the first time this fall, focusing on skills development. He is a level 200 USA Rugby certified coach.

Coach Smith brings to Rowan extensive coaching experience. He is the former head coach of the South Jersey RFC’s 15s and 7s teams. South Jersey enjoyed great success on the field throughout his time in charge.

In addition to his achievements as a coach, he had a stellar playing career in both 15s and 7s. Coach Smith initially competed for the Rancocas Valley RFC before joining South Jersey. He was a standout flyhalf during his twenty year playing career. A South Jersey captain in both 15s and 7s, he was also selected as an Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union representative player from 1984-94. In addition, he was selected for the international touring Atlantis 7s side.
Coach Smith’s storied playing career culminated in his selection to the South Jersey RFC’s Hall of Fame.

He resides in Cinnaminson with his family and is the owner of his own business, Office Project Solutions.
